Brown Bag Films (BBF) has created this data protection notice as the controller of applicants’ personal data to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy and to inform applicants about the data we collect and process in connection with your job application.

What data does BBF collect?
As part of the recruitment process we collect data including an individual’s contact details, current job information including salary rates, curriculum vitae, work and educational history, referee names, interview notes and interview related documentation.
How do BBF obtain this data?
Personal data is normally obtained directly from you during the application process. In certain circumstances, it will, however, be necessary to obtain data from external third parties e.g. references from previous employers
What is the purpose and use of this data?
This data is collected to complete the recruitment process and assess candidate suitability for the role.
The processing is necessary to enter into a contract with a potential employee and for our legitimate interests in managing an effective recruitment process in circumstances where such interests are not overridden by the rights and freedoms of employees.
What are the consequences of an applicant not providing the data?
Where an individual does not provide the requested data, the organisation may be unable to consider their application for employment.

The recruitment data is not shared with any third parties. The following data is shared with hiring managers and those involved in the recruitment & hiring process such as the HR departments:
How will my data be kept secure?
The organisation will take all reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are in place to protect the confidentiality of both electronic and manual data. Security measures will be reviewed from time to time, having regard to the technology available, the cost and the risk of unauthorised access.
Will my information be transferred abroad?
We may transfer your personal data to other group companies within the EEA for purposes connected with your employment or the management of the company’s business
How long does BBF keep my information?
Any personal data processed as part of the recruitment process is retained for 12 months
Will I be subject to profiling or automated decision making?
We use automated decision making, in the following circumstances: when a role specifically requires the individual to have an existing right to work in the country and the applicant doesn’t have this right we may choose to automatically reject that candidate.
